KOICA, CAMKAA & Hyundai Participate in Corporate Social Responsibility in Banteay Meanchey and Pursat Provinces

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the Cambodia-Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA), and Hyundai Camko Motor Company Ltd., participated in corporate social responsibility through the distribution of school supplies, hygiene supplies, helmets, and tree planting in Preah Sre Primary School & Monkul Borey Secondary School of Banteay Meanchey province, and Pursat High School of Pursat province.

According to a KOICA’s press release, the event at Preah Sre Primary School was presided over by H.E. Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey province, Mr. Rho Hyunjun, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, H.E. Im Sour, President of CAMKAA, Mr. Sun Ravoeun, Future Strategy Group Manager of Hyundai Camko Motor Company Ltd., and the school principal. While other two schools were presided over by Mr. Rho Hyunjun, Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, H.E. Im Sour, President of CAMKAA, Mr. Sun Ravoeun, Future Strategy Group Manager of Hyundai Camko Motor Company Ltd., and the school principals.

The first event attracted more than 200 participants, including the representatives from KOICA, CAMKAA, and Hyundai, as well as the participants from Banteay Meanchey province, Preah Sre Primary School, and parents & guardian of students. While other two events were attended by over 300 participants from KOICA, CAMKAA, and Hyundai, as well as teachers and students from Monkul Borey Secondary School, and Pursat High School, respectively.

The CSR team distributed school supplies, such as bicycles, pen, backpack, writing book, and hygiene supplies such as toothbrush, and tooth paste to one hundred (100) student as well as providing water pumping machine with 50m pipe, globe, Samdach Chuon Nath dictionary part 1&2, and children’s story books to the school principal of Preah Sre Primary School of Banteay Meanchey province. While other two schools, they provided two hundred (200) helmets and two hundred (200) backpacks to students of Monkul Borey Secondary School and Pursat High School. Both schools also received answered books.

In addition, the team provided education about road safety on how to wear helmet properly. They also joined the global campaign to plant trees for a sustainable environment and combat the threatening climate change; around 250 trees were planted at the above three schools.

The event was organised to support the Government of Cambodia to promote road safety awareness among children who are the most vulnerable road users in order to reduce road traffic deaths and injuries. The main objective is to reduce road deaths and injuries among children through sustained road safety awareness. Another objective is inspiration to protect the environment and planet by planting trees in the schools of Cambodia.

During the mission in Banteay Meanchey Province, the team also paid a courtesy call on H.E. Oum Reatrey, Governor of Banteay Meanchey province. During the meeting, KOICA shared the cooperation between KOICA and Banteay Meanchey province, especially on KOICA’s Project/Programme such as, 1)-Clearing for Results-Phase 4: Mine Action for Human Development Project, 2)-Building Peace and Prosperity Village through Integrated Rural Community Development, 3)-Dispatching World Friends Korea (WFK) volunteers to National Meanchey University, and 4)-CSR in collaboration with KOICA, CAMKAA, Hyundai.
