As Cambodia’s Australian
lobster farming is well on track to supply one tonne of the lucrative food product
a day to the market, it’s encouraged for expansion in a near future.
The idea was floated by a delegation led by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon and Oddar Meanchey Provincial Governor H.E. Pen Kosal when visiting the lobster farm recently.
Located in Trapaing Prasat district of Oddar Meanchey, the farm run by Cambodia Amazing Aquaculture Technological Co., Ltd. has about 600,000 lobster breeds and is producing 50 tonnes of lobsters per six months.
With the achievement resulted by the current investment on 25 hectares of land surface, the firm will expand the coverage to 100 hectares in a near future with an optimism of producing targeted one tonne of lobsters daily.
According to the firm, the price it sets for one kilogramme of lobsters is US$25, and it can be sold by retailors at the market for US$30 a kilogramme.
The delegation of H.E. Veng Sakhon and H.E. Pen Kosal expressed their high appreciation of the progress of the farm and urged the firm to expand its networks and investments as soon as they can.
The investment is not only promoting local economy and food chain, they continued, but can also serve as practical technical laboratory for others interested to follow the path.
