Minister of Transport Receives Delegation of Toyota (Cambodia)

A delegation of Toyota (Cambodia), led by its President Mr. Ryoji Fujita paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, at the ministry office in Phnom Penh on Oct. 11.

In the meeting, Mr. Ryoji Fujita sought support from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) in boosting the use of hybrid cars in Cambodia through the reduction of import duties. The move will contribute to reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emission, and to achieving Cambodia’s goal of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

H.E. Sun Chanthol thanked Toyota (Cambodia) for the creation of an assembly plant in Cambodia which contributes with the Royal Government in job creation, poverty alleviation, and automotive promotion.

The MPWT minister also suggested the company working with the Ministry of Economy and Finance over its request on easing import duties for hybrid cars.

H.E. Sun Chanthol took the opportunity to underline the ministry’s efforts to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs) in Cambodia to take part in the reduction of environmental pollution through the installation EV charging stations in the capital and provinces.

Toyota (Cambodia) is the exclusive importer and distributor for all Toyota vehicles, spare parts and services in Cambodia. Since the launch of its operation in the Kingdom in 1993, Toyota (Cambodia) has opened five branches across the country.
