Over 800 runners from 37 countries have registered for the 6th Angkor Ultra Trail 2023 in Cambodia, indicating a double increase compared to 2020.
The update was shared by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), in a press conference here in Phnom Penh recently.
Cambodia was ranked as a safe tourist destination by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), making the country's running events attractive among runners all over the world.
The rising number of runners also reflects the success of Siem Reap province's tourism restoration plan, he emphasised.
The 6th Angkor Ultra Trail 2023 will take place on Feb. 4 in Siem Reap through the cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Phoenix Voyages.
Mr. Edouard George, President of Phoenix Voyages, also noted that Cambodia is a safe country and the uniqueness of Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province makes it even more popular tourist destination.
