Outstanding agricultural community award has identified the winners in an official ceremony presided over by Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon.
Taking place at the ministry office here in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, the awarding ceremony was witnessed by H.E Sascha Reebs, First Secretary at the German Embassy and Mr. Hardy Schneider, Programme Director of the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation (DGRV) with the participation of about 500 farmers and officials.
The five winners of the award, in order of ranking, include the communities of Torsou Meanchey in Preah Vihear province, Aphiwat Srok Yoeung in Kampong Cham province, Borey Aphiwat in Banteay Meanchey province, Anchanh Roung Samay Thmey in Kampong Chhnang, and Samros Kampong La Pov in Battambang province.
H.E. Veng Sakhon highly appreciated the award winning agricultural communities and thanked development partners and relevant stakeholders, especially the government of Germany for supporting the initiative.
Introduced since 2015, the challenge is intended to promote Cambodian farmers to pay more attention to agricultural sector which is a cornerstone of Cambodia's development and growth.
The winning agricultural communities are awarded respectively from the first to the fifth rank with 16, 10, 8, 6, and 4 million riels.
