Over 200,000 Domestic Visitors Tour Cambodia during First Weekend of September

A total of 202,636 national and international visitors travelled across Cambodia in the first weekend of September.

The figure suggested a decline by 9.85 percent compared to the previous weekend, pointed out the Ministry of Tourism, adding that of the tourists, 183,276 were national visitors and 19,360 were internal foreign tourists.

Preah Sihanouk coastal province was crowned No. 1 as the most visited tourist destination last weekend, followed by the provinces of Kampot, Siem Reap, Battambang, and Phnom Penh capital. Kandal, Kampong Speu, and Kep provinces were also among the eight most popular destinations.

The ministry explained the decline in the number of tourists by unfavourable weather conditions.

Recently, the Royal Government of Cambodia has announced to grant free passes to all foreigners residing in Cambodia for two years and over to visit the Angkor Archeological Park in Siem Reap province and Koh Ker Temple in Preah Vihear province once a year.
