Over US$50,000 Collected from Charity Art Performance in Siem Reap to Assist People in Wuhan

A total of US$52,501 and many other necessary materials were collected from a charity art performance organised last night in Siem Reap provincial city by the Angkor Dynasty Theatre, in collaboration with Siem Reap provincial administration and Consulate of China in Siem Reap.

The fundraising was aimed to help the hospitals and people in Wuhan city of China's Hubei province, who have been facing with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Siem Reap Provincial Governor H.E. Tea Seyha expressed his sympathy to the people of China, particularly those of Wuhan and called on national and international communities to join this humanitarian activity.

H.E. Governor also recalled Siem Reap province's donations in masks to its sister cities and provinces such as Yunnan province, Nanjing city, Chongqing city, Lishui city. Meanwhile, in an effort to alleviate the difficulties of Chinese friends, H.E. Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence has announced to provide 300,000 face masks and protective clothing to the Chinese Defence Ministry.

H.E. Liu Zhijie, Head of the Chinese Consulate in Siem Reap, deeply thanked Cambodia, especially Siem Reap provincial administration, residents and Red Cross for their assistance to Wuhan.

Although the people in Siem Reap are not rich, their humanitarian spirit and friendship are huge, he underlined.
