The construction of an expressway linking Phnom Penh capital to Sihanoukville of Preah Sihanouk province is now 20 percent complete since it began in March last year.
The update was shared on Mar. 2 by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, adding that the construction of the 190-kilometre-long expressway will be completed and put into use as planned in mid-2022.
This first ever expressway will alleviate traffic from National Road No. 4, the busiest thoroughfare in the country, which connects the capital to Sihanoukville's deep-sea port, the main gateway for exports and imports.
The project is estimated to cost about US$1.9 billion.
