Phnom Penh, the Most Visited Destination in Third Weekend of September

 

Phnom Penh capital was crowned No. 1 as the most popular tourism destination in the third weekend of September, receiving 69,404 or 23 percent of the registered visitors in the period, said the Ministry of Tourism in a report released today.

Cambodia received in total 300,385 national and international visitors in the weekend of Sept. 17-18, up 47.3 percent compared to the previous weekend, of them 246,960 were national visitors and 53,425 were internal foreign tourists, it pointed out.

The provinces of Preah Sihanouk and Kandal came in 2nd and 3rd as the most visited destinations, followed by Siem Reap, Kampot, Battambang, Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Kep, and Pursat provinces, the report added.

The Ministry of Tourism keeps advising the Provincial and Municipal Tourism Departments to continue reinforcing the implementation of safety rules and safety standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent possible transmission of COVID-19, to strengthen the quality of tourism services while maintaining reasonable prices, and to keep the environment clean.
