Cambodia has vaccinated 8 million adults against COVID-19, equivalent to 80 percent of the target of 10 million people, without counting the under-18s being inoculated and the booster doses being administered to frontline workers.
“The journey toward the target of 10 million people is not far from us. We will achieve it seven to eight months ahead of the previous plan,” underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his official Facebook page tonight.
The Premier also expressed his congratulations to Ms. Thoeung Tha who is the 8 millionth person vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms. Thoeung Tha, 56, is Cambodian-Lao. She lives in Donlong village, Sekong commune, Siem Pang district, Stung Treng province. She was inoculated with U.S.-donated Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
H.E. Mrs. Or Vandine, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health and Chairwoman of the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination will personally hand over the Premier’s financial support of US$10 million Riel (about US$2,500) and other donations to Ms. Thoeung Tha, Samdech Techo Hun Sen added.
Samdech Techo Prime Minister also wished his compatriots happiness, prosperity and be safe from COVID-19 by adhering to the health safety rules, especially the 3 Dos, 3 Don’ts.
