PM: Government to Do its Best to Find More Markets for Cambodian Agricultural Products

The Royal Government of Cambodia will do its utmost to find more markets for Cambodian agricultural products, affirmed Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen after the signing ceremony of six key documents with the Chinese side here at the Peace Palace yesterday evening.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he raised the issue of direct export of Cambodian agricultural produce such as Ta-ngen or Pailin longan to Chinese market, during his bilateral meeting with visiting H.E. Wang Yi, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

When the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement comes into force in the near future, Cambodia will be able to use and gain benefit from the Chinese market, he underlined.

For his part, H.E. Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s support for the agricultural sector in Cambodia, adding that the hardships of the Cambodian people are those of the Chinese people, and China will join hands with Cambodia to develop the latter.

“China will import more agricultural produce from Cambodia for the benefit of the Cambodian farmers,” he stressed.

Cambodia has so far shipped fresh mangoes and bananas directly to China.

Cambodia and China yesterday signed six cooperation documents, including a grant aid of US$270 million.
