Cambodia National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) is capacitating researchers with climate change research proposal writing and study networking.
Taking place at Siem Reap province from Jun. 12 to 14, the special capacity building course facilitated by NCSD's Climate Change Department is attended by 55 researchers � 20 of them are female � from six educational institutions.
They are Royal Universities of Phnom Penh and Agriculture; Universities of Mean Chey and Hen Samrin Tboung Khmum; Prek Leap National College of Agriculture; and Institute of Technology of Cambodia.
According to Dr. Heng Chanthoeun, Deputy Director of the Climate Change Department, the session was specially tailored in order to allow both theoretical knowledge and practical skill with hands-on practice for participants.
This is the second kind of such capacity building, he said, adding that the first course three months ago has enabled four on-going key research projects on climate change.
The searches angled on climate change adaptation for small-scale farmers in Cambodia, climate resilience and reduction of greenhouse gas in urban areas, environment and water evolution and vulnerability of coastal areas, and sustainable energy management in Cambodia.
It is positive that the second round of the capacitation will bring about more thorough research projects that will benefit the government's endeavour in promoting climate change adaptation and reeducation of its impacts.
