Informal knowledge and skill of the province's workers in tourism has been accredited, as Kratie witnesses the rise of the industry there.
Official event for the accreditation called Recognition for Prior Learning was chaired by Tourism Secretary of State H.E. Pak Sokhom and H.E. Pen Linat, Kratie Acting Provincial Governor at the river province this morning.
The initiative, made possible through cooperation with Swiss foundation for technical cooperation known as SwissContact, formalised the accumulated knowledge, skill and experience of thirty workers in the fields of food and beverage, housekeeping, and front-desk.
The recognition of prior learning is a strategy of tourism ministry to set foundation for tourism workers who had not gone through formal training so that they can pursue higher accreditation to sharpen their profession, underlined H.E. Pak Sokhom.
Accredited skill set is inevitable to succeed in advancing tourism industry in Cambodia as well as Kratie province, shaped to certain extent by regional and global tourism trend.
According to the report shared by Head of Kratie Provincial Department of Tourism, the river province is undergoing positive tourism potentials and the provincial authorities are joining hands to broaden the opportunities.
Kratie, he said, is home to 16 existing natural and cultural resorts and new tourist attractions such as river coasts, islands, eco-tourism communities, and beyond are being developed.
There are currently 50 hotels and guesthouses of more than 900 rooms, and 39 restaurants in the province.
According to the record of the tourism department, during the first quarter of 2019, 83,442 tourists � 8,926 of them are foreigners � visited the province, proving a very optimistic progress.
