Cambodian technical officials and trainers of early childhood care and development are receiving regional-level capacitation focusing on the development of scientific attitude for small children.
H.E. Ms. Kim Sethany, Secretary of State for Education, Youth and Sports, presided over the opening of this important training course this morning at Tonle Basac I restaurant here in Phnom Penh.
Lasting from June 19 to 21, the capacitation is organised by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in cooperation with SEAMEO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP).
In the recent years, Cambodia has made remarkable progress in child education with doubled number of children enrolled in preschool programmes, and around 43 percent of children aged 3 to 5 years are enrolled in early childhood education for academic year 2017-2018.
While working hard to bring the access to a higher level, the Royal Government of Cambodia as well as Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports is also considering the mainstreaming of the latest technology in the effort.
With this spirit, H.E. Ms. Kim Sethany encouraged all participants in the workshop to try their utmost to pick up new knowledge and skill to further develop early childhood care and development (ECCD) in Cambodia.
SEAMEO CECCEP is acting as a regional hub to enhance both regional and global commitments to quality early childhood education and parenting through researches, policy development, partnership and networking and capacity building.
