Road Improvement Project from Kandal to Takeo to Begin Next Week

The groundbreaking ceremony for the improvement of National Road No. 2 (NR2) and NR22 from Kandal province to Takeo province is scheduled to take place on Feb. 11, according to an announcement of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The forthcoming ceremony will be presided over by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The road improvement project stretches over 72 kilometres, of which 62.56 kilometres from Takhmao roundabout in Kandal province to Daun Keo city of Takeo province, and 9.61 kilometres of NR22 from Daun Keo city to Ang Tasom market, on NR3.

Built by South Korea-based Hanshin Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd, the road improvement project is funded by a loan of US$45.7 million from South Korea and US$8 million from the Royal Government.

The project will take 30 months to complete, the ministry added.
