Royal Government to Continue Providing Free COVID-19 Vaccines to People

The Royal Government will continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines to its people and all foreign nationals in Cambodia free-of-charge even though the required doses for each of them rise to 20.

The commitment was made by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen while presiding over the commemoration of 45th Remembrance Day of "Journey to Overthrow the Pol Pot Genocidal Regime" in Koh Thmar village, Tonloung commune, Memut district, Thbong Khmum province this morning.

“We have the obligation to protect our citizens,” the Premier stressed.

As of June 19, over 94 percent of the total Cambodian population of 16 million have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the basic doses. At the same time, nearly 9.4 million got the 3rd shot, more than 2.7 million the 4th jab, and about 207,000 the 5th dose.

Cambodia has detected no new case of COVID-19 for 44 days in a row. Since the first outbreak in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province, the Kingdom has registered in total 136,262 confirmed cases, of which 133,206 have recovered while 3,056 others have lost their lives.
