S. Korea, Philippines Appreciate Cambodia’s Military Development

The Republic of Korea and the Philippines have appreciated Cambodia’s rapid development, especially in military sector, according to local media report.

The appreciation was revealed during separate meetings between Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of Royal Cambodian Army with his S. Korean and Filipino counterparts Lt. Gen. Kim Jong Su and Maj. Gen. Lenard Agustin recently here in Phnom Penh.

In the meetings, the two guests thanked Lt. Gen. Hun Manet for his warm hospitality, particularly for his invitation to attend the 25th founding anniversary of Cambodia’s 70th Brigade , reflecting positively the country’s military development.

Maj. Gen. Lenard Augstin, Commander-in-chief of the 7th Infantry Division of the Philippines’ Armed Forces, spoke highly of Lt. Gen. Hun Manet’s effort in building Cambodia’s strong army, and pledged to further strengthen relations and collaboration between the two regional countries in military sector.

Lt. Gen. Hun Manet informed both counterparts of the history of the establishment of Royal Cambodian Army, and the effort of the Royal Government of Cambodia to build peace, bringing about development in all sectors nowadays.

He also lauded advanced and intimate relations between the armies of Cambodia and the Asian countries including S. Korea, and the Philippines, and thanked the Governments of the Philippines and S. Korea for their sharing of knowledge and technical and skill assistance with Cambodian soldiers.
