Saray Techo Senchey from Kandal province was crowned the fastest boat in 2019, after three days of races on Tonle Sap River in front of the Royal Palace, Phnom Penh.
The announcement was made by H.E. Bou Chum Serei, Under Secretary of State for Education, Youth and Sports and Vice Chairman of Boat Racing Technical Committee at the end of the boat races yesterday evening.
According to the same source, the two runners up are Samdech Vibol Panha Baromey Meanchey from Takeo province and Kirivong Sok Senchey from the same province.
For the most beautiful boats of 2019, he added, the first winner is Kaek Sar Techo Senchey from Phnom Penh capital, while Norin Rainsey Srey Sar Pichey Chetraboth from Battambang province and Sovann Reachsey Baromey Banteay Moha Nokor from Banteay Meanchey province, got the second and third places, respectively.
The three-day boat races were wrapped up with success and joyfulness, under the royal presidency of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, accompanied by Cambodian top leaders, high-ranking officials and foreign ambassadors.
This year, 289 boats with nearly 20,000 rowers from across the country competed in the boat racing, which is one of the main events of the Water Festival held from Nov. 10 to 12.
