Siem Reap Referral Hospital to Become a Modern Hospital by 2023

Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital will become a modern hospital in the region once the construction of a Japan-funded building was completed.

This morning, H.E. Prof. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, led a delegation to inspect the construction process of the new building.

The construction, which began in December 2021, has so far achieved at 17.38 percent, and as planned it will be completed in 2023, said the minister.

H.E. Prof. Mam Bunheng added that the expansion of the referral hospital is in line with the people’s needs as well as the goal of the Royal Government to improve health service provision through the modernisation of health services.

The Government of Japan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has provided more than US$19 million for the construction of a 25-metre-long and 69-metre-wide, four-storey building of Siem Reap Provincial Referral Hospital.

Once constructed, the new building will be used for surgery, emergency services, and other related services.
