About 4.78 million tourists enjoyed this year's celebration of the Water Festival in Phnom Penh, from Nov. 10 to 12, up 5 percent compared to the same period last year.
Of them, some 4,750,000 were local tourists and the rest, 31,446, were foreign visitors, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism H.E. Top Sopheak quoted the ministry's record.
People joined the Water Festival celebration because they are confident on the leadership of Royal Government. Therefore, we see more people come to enjoy the festival, H.E. Top Sopheak said.
Overall, over 5.8 million tourists, 89,548 of them were foreigners, travelled to different tourism destinations across the country during the Water Festival celebration, a year-on-year increase of 7.26 percent.
Now, we have seen the rising trend of travel of domestic tourists thanks to their better living standard and good infrastructure linking to the tourism destinations throughout the country, the spokesperson underlined. The most important are peace and political stability.
