The construction project of a sports village or sports residences (Borei Keila) to host athletes for the upcoming SEA Games 2023 has been discussed.
The discussion took place recently here in Phnom Penh under the chairmanship of H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and Permanent Vice President of Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC).
According to H.E. Vat Chamroeun, Secretary General of CAMSOC, the sports village will be built on approximately 8 hectares of land surface behind Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh.
Specialised construction firm WorldBridge Group was selected to construct the sports village, continued the secretary general.
The sports village will be a well-designed standard building with 1,700 rooms (each room is equipped with between 1 to 5 beds) capable of serving about 10,000 athletes, coaches, delegates and staff.
It also accommodates a museum for SEA Games related memories and materials to pass on to the next generations and for study and research purposes.
