Cambodian Senior Minister and First Vice President of Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) H.E. Ly Thuch received here this morning H.E. Nick Beresford, UNDP’s Resident Representative in Cambodia.
In the meeting, both sides discussed the results-based mine clearance project, according to a CMAA’s news release.
H.E. Ly Thuch spoke highly of the successful partnership with UNDP in demining activities and requested UNDP to gather more funds to support the field so as to achieve Cambodia’s 2025 mine-free target.
H.E. Nick Beresford underlined that UNDP considered mine clearance as a priority sector and expressed UNDP’s will to continue supporting the Royal Government of Cambodia which has adopted precise mine action policies and strategies.
He also pledged to continue gathering more resources for mine clearance activities in order to provide safe land for poor people and reduce danger for the Cambodian people.
