Unnecessary Trips During Khmer New Year Discouraged

The Phnom Penh administration has discouraged unnecessary outdoor activities as well as trips to the provinces during the up-coming Khmer New Year to mitigate COVID-19 detection risk.

The directive, signed by Phnom Penh capital Governor H.E. Khuong Sreng, was released yesterday urging compliance among the general public, including youth and workers in the capital.

The aftermath of the Feb. 20 community infection remains, so the public must be very vigilant and continue to carry out safety measures guided by the Ministry of Health, it continued.

It underlined that, except small indoor gatherings among family members, other typical new year activities will not be allowed.

It also encouraged entries at pagodas, resorts, restaurants and other sites to utilise the QR code by the Ministry of Health to track possible infection.
