Twelve (12) Cambodian government officials from the general prosecution office of the Supreme Court will leave for the Republic of Korea to attend a two-week-long training course on “Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice for ASEAN (Cambodia)”.
According to a press release of KOICA Cambodia Office, the course will take place from May 12 to 25, 2019 at the Institute of Justice in Yongin.
Yesterday, KOICA Cambodia Office held a pre-departure orientation for the 12 trainees. The orientation is designed to ease the entry of Cambodian officials into Korean culture and enable them to make the most of their life in the Republic of Korea. During the event, KOICA Cambodia Officers briefly orientates participants about the important things in Korea, the information about the Cambodia Korea Alumni Association (CAMKAA), and the code of conduct of the training programme.
Deputy Director of KOICA Cambodia Office Mr. Kang Hwang Wook said KOICA provides the capacity building training on crime prevention and criminal justice for ASEAN (Cambodia) for increment capacities for criminal justice system to prevent crimes.
The objectives of training programme are to understand forensic science, cyber-crime, and criminal policies of Korea, seek appropriate steps to resolve problems and set up more effective crime prevention policies based on criminal justice system, establish concrete applicable plans to meet local situation, and work out measures to cooperate in the field of international or borderless crimes, he pointed out.
Mr. Kang Hwang Wook added that the 12 trainees from department of prosecution of Cambodia will study with special four modules including Understanding of Korean justice system, Prevention of crimes, Forensic science of digital evidence and cybercrime, and Country report and action plan.
The deputy director of KOICA Cambodia Office congratulated the participants and encouraged them to avail this excellent opportunity to learn from Korea’s development during their stay and to share their experience in Cambodia for sustainable development.
The selected candidates expressed their gratitude to KOICA and Korean government for supporting and they showed a high level of participation and commitment throughout the course to promote capacity building for a broad understanding of development projects, particularly in terms of their Crime Prevention & Criminal Justice for ASEAN (Cambodia).
