A total of 136 Cambodian national athletes left Cambodia on Aug. 23 for a three-month training camp in the People's Republic of China for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province of China and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
The update was shared by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, while holding a get-together with the Cambodian national athletes before their departure here in Phnom Penh.
This will be the second time for Cambodia to send its athletes to join training in China under the continued high-level sports development assistance programme between the governments of Cambodia and China, said H.E. Vath Chamroeun.
There are adult and nursery players among the 136 athletes who will be trained in 11 kinds of sports until December 2023, continued the secretary general.
The 19th Asian Games will take place from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8, while the 33rd SEA Games will be held in 2025.
Some 161 Cambodian athletes were dispatched to get seven-month training in 12 kinds of sports in China from September 2022 to April 2023 under the SEA Games 2023 strategy.
