Agriculture Minister Delivers Prime Minister Hun Manet’s Humanitarian Aid to Displaced Cambodians in Banteay Meanchey Amid Border Tensions

Banteay meanchey: H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and Head of the Royal Government's Working Group for Banteay Meanchey Province, led a humanitarian mission this morning to distribute emergency relief packages on behalf of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and the First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony. The aid was delivered to Cambodian civilians displaced by escalating military tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, approximately 7,800 families or roughly 24,900 individuals have been relocated to secure areas since the armed clashes began on July 24. The affected families, now sheltering in safe zones in Preah Netr Preah district, fled their homes following repeated incursions by Thai armed forces.

Speaking at the relief distribution, Minister Dith Tina conveyed the Royal Government's solidarity with the displaced. 'Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Manet and Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony are deeply committed to safeguarding our people, especially in times of crisis,' he stated. 'This assistance reflects not only material support but also the unwavering compassion of Cambodia's leadership.'

He assured citizens that the Royal Government is closely monitoring the border situation and urged calm, emphasizing that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure security. Displaced civilians shared accounts of their flight. Sokhom Phally, 45, from Banteay Ampil district, Oddar Meanchey, recounted: 'We escaped under gunfire-leaving everything behind. I don't know if our homes will even be standing when we return.'

Despite their distress, recipients expressed gratitude for the rapid response from the Royal Government. The aid packages included food, clean water, essential supplies, and medical items, providing critical support amid the ongoing crisis. The Royal Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national sovereignty and pledged to facilitate the safe return of displaced families once stability is restored.
