ARTIST YEOW TECK CHAI TO HOLD THIRD ART EXHIBITION THEMED “LET OUR CHILDREN DREAM”

For the third time, Malaysian artist Yeow Teck Chai, 73, will be holding an art exhibition themed “Let Our Children Dream” at the same venue like his previous two exhibitions, Main Concourse, Bangsar Shopping Complex, here.

According to a statement from the Society of the Severely Mentally Handicapped (SSMH) Selangor and Federal Territory, the exhibition is expected to be launched on Sept 6 by former Minister of Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.

Apart from the the joint exhibition of 70 watercolour paintings by Yeow Teck Chai and 10 by Oon Soon Keat based on the theme, a book of watercolour paintings titled “Our Children Dream-An Artist’s Impression” will also be on sale.

The 100-page hardcover book, contains over 60 prints based on original watercolour paintings of children by Yeow Teck Chai, capturing the unbridled spirit and joy of children arousing the reader to envision the ideas of their own children, the statement read.

Organised by SSMH, and the Free Food Society with the help of the Brickfields Asia College, 80 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the books and paintings will go to both charities which have long been supported by Yeow, who is known for using his talent as artist for the benefit of the less fortunate members of society.

SSMH is a voluntary welfare organisation established in 1984 with the objective of providing rehabilitation facilities to children and youths with severe mental and physical (multiple) disabilities. In line with these objectives, a Day Care and Training Centre was set up in June 1985.
