ASEAN Congratulates Cambodia on Peace Day

Phnom penh: The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has extended congratulations to Cambodia on the 27th Anniversary of the Peace Day (Dec. 29, 1998 - Dec. 29, 2025). The people of Cambodia celebrate 29 December as Peace Day, a moment filled with reflection and gratitude across the nation. This meaningful day honours the Cambodian people's deep longing for peace, unity, and healing after decades of hardship, ASEAN stated in a Facebook post this morning.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the day marks the historic moment on Dec. 29, 1998, when the Win-Win Policy brought an end to conflict and restored lasting peace throughout the country. As Cambodia observes this meaningful day, the spirit of Peace Day also resonates across the region. The values of peace, unity, and mutual understanding are shared aspirations within the ASEAN Community.

Cambodia officially joined ASEAN on April 30, 1999. Other members of ASEAN include Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
