ASEAN-Japan Sport Activities Workshop on Gender Equality Successfully Concludes in Siem Reap

Siem reap: The three-day ASEAN-Japan Action on Sports: Gender Equality Workshop, held in Siem Reap province, was successfully concluded, stressing commitment to gender equality in sports, according to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC).

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the NOCC and Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, highlighted at the closing ceremony that Cambodia, as the host country and chair of the ASEAN-Japan Summit 2026-2027, is committed to promoting gender equality not only in sports but also in other priority areas for the benefits of sustainable and responsible sport development.

Cambodia has actively utilized sports as a powerful tool for building peace and diplomacy, exemplified by the slogan "Sports Live in Peace" during the 32nd SEA Games 2023 in Cambodia. This slogan reflected Cambodia's commitment to enhancing sports as a core way toward solidarity, unification, and stability both within and outside the region.

Sport plays a crucial role in socio-economic development in each country and contributes to achieving sustainable development goals toward peace and prosperity. H.E. Vath Chamroeun also expressed gratitude to delegates from ASEAN nations and Japan, as well as international speakers, for their participation in the workshop, which significantly contributed to an inclusive sport development framework in the region.
