Cambodia: Cambodia's Ministry of Women's Affairs and the Australian Embassy jointly celebrated the 115th Anniversary of International Women's Day on March 5, focusing on the crucial role of women's leadership in advancing human capital development.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event was presided over by Cambodia's Minister of Women's Affairs, H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, and Australian Ambassador H.E. Derek Yip. Held under the theme 'Women Leading Human Capital Transformation,' the ceremony highlighted the significance of empowering women as central figures in national development.
H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi emphasized that people are the driving force behind national transformation, with women playing vital roles as contributors and leaders in human capital development. She further noted that sustainable progress in this area requires peace and security, aligning with the shared goals of Cambodia and Australia to advance women's rights and empowerment.
Ambassador Derek Yip pointed out that investing in women and girls serves as an effective catalyst for sustainable development. He stated that providing more opportunities for women can lead to reduced social conflict, strengthened stability, increased economic productivity, and expanded participation of women in social and public spheres.
