Cambodia and Russia Pledge to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Phnom penh: Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Prak Sokhonn, reaffirmed Cambodia's dedication to strengthening its partnership with Russia during a bilateral meeting with Russian Foreign Minister, H.E. Sergey Lavrov. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Prak Sokhonn expressed appreciation for the progress in Cambodia-Russia relations in recent years. He noted the recent meeting between Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Russian President H.E. Vladimir Putin, as well as his own meeting with Russian Minister of Agriculture and Co-Chair of the Cambodia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC), H.E. Ms. Oksana Lut, held in Kazan on June 18, 2026.

The Foreign Ministers emphasized their commitment to advancing cooperation across mutual interests, highlighting the significance of regular high-level exchanges and reciprocal visits to deepen the long-standing friendship between the two nations. They also acknowledged the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Russia, celebrating with activities in both countries to commemorate the milestone.

Both sides anticipate the 3rd Cambodia-Russia Bilateral Consultations in August 2026 and the 12th Cambodia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) Meeting to be hosted in Phnom Penh in 2027.
