Phnom penh: Cambodia and China have jointly committed to enhancing their economic relations and eradicating cyber fraud activities during the second Cambodia-China Government-Private Sector Dialogue held in Phnom Penh.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forum was co-chaired by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wenbin. The event gathered government officials and representatives from over 70 Chinese enterprises operating in Cambodia to discuss ways to streamline investment processes, resolve operational challenges, and enhance investor confidence under the "diamond cooperation" framework.
During the forum, H.E. Sun Chanthol emphasized the Cambodian government's determination to fight technology-based financial crimes and create a secure business environment. He announced that Phnom Penh would host the International Conference on Combating Online Scams on September 23-24, demonstrating Cambodia's dedication to regional security and cross-border collaboration.
H.E. Sun Chanthol highlighted the government's commitment to institutional reforms and modernizing the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) to attract and protect foreign investments more effectively. He also mentioned plans to lead investment promotion delegations to Xiamen and Shenzhen to encourage further capital inflows.
Ambassador Wang Wenbin commended Cambodia's quick resolution of concerns raised by Chinese businesses in the initial dialogue session, noting that this mechanism acts as a practical bridge to deepen the bilateral strategic partnership and promote sustainable economic development.
The meeting assessed progress from the first dialogue, provided updates on regulatory changes, and established a direct communication channel for Chinese enterprise executives to engage with Cambodian ministries. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to making the dialogue a permanent mechanism for ongoing economic cooperation.
