Phnom Penh: A Cambodian defense spokesperson announced last night that barbed wire, which had been deployed by Thai soldiers on Cambodian territory, has been removed.
According to Nam News Network, the installation was deemed illegal, having been placed by the Thai side in the An Ses area of Preah Vihear province on August 4. The removal process was completed by the afternoon of August 5, 2025, with all machinery operations ceasing, as stated by the Defense Ministry’s Undersecretary of State and spokesperson, Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, in a press release.
Lt. Gen. Socheata added that the removal of the barbed wire followed discussions and negotiations between Cambodian and Thai forces stationed in the An Ses area.
