Phnom penh: Deputy Prime Minister H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed Mr. Jrg Montani, Head of the Regional Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), during a courtesy call at the Ministry.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the meeting focused on strengthening the cooperation between Cambodia and the ICRC. Discussions centered around rehabilitation programs for persons with disabilities, enhancing welfare for detainees, and partnerships with the Cambodian Red Cross. The talks also emphasized the promotion of international humanitarian law and the provision of humanitarian assistance, particularly during periods of tension along the Cambodian-Thai border.
Mr. Montani provided an update on the ICRC's recent visit to 18 Cambodian soldiers captured by Thai forces on July 29, 2025. He assured H.E. Deputy Prime Minister that all soldiers in Thai custody are safe and in good health. Additionally, Mr. Montani noted that the ICRC had received messages from the detained soldiers for their families, which would be relayed through the Cambodian Red Cross.
