New York:Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Cambodia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, engaged in bilateral meetings with his Iranian and Nigerien counterparts on September 26 during the United Nations General Assembly's 81st Session in New York.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Prak Sokhonn's first meeting was with H.E. Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The two ministers reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening the friendly relations between Cambodia and Iran and expressed readiness to elevate bilateral ties further. In anticipation of the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2027, both parties agreed to prepare for the 2nd Bilateral Consultations at a mutually agreed upon date and location. The Cambodian minister also updated his Iranian counterpart on the latest developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
Later in the morning, H.E. Prak Sokhonn met with H.E. Bakary Yaou Sangar©, Niger's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad. The discussion focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, with Cambodia showing interest in working alongside Niger in sectors such as trade, investment, agriculture, education, culture, and tourism.
At the end of this meeting, the two ministers signed an Agreement on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Cambodia and Niger. This agreement sets the groundwork for friendship and regular exchanges between the two nations, paving the way for further bilateral cooperation in the future.
