Phnom penh: The Ministry of Commerce organized the 2026 Supply Chain Forum on September 6, aimed at fortifying direct connections between local handicraft producers, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and distributors, potential buyers, supermarkets, and digital commerce platforms.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the forum united representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, relevant ministries and institutions, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, business associations, companies, financial institutions, supermarkets, digital commerce platforms, and other stakeholders involved in the supply chain.
H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, who presided over the opening ceremony, emphasized that this was the Ministry's first initiative of its kind. She described it as a significant pilot step towards facilitating and promoting domestic market and trade linkages. The importance of establishing direct connections among farmers, growers, producers, processors, MSMEs, distributors, buyers, investors, financiers, technology providers, and logistics service providers was highlighted as essential for building a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable supply chain.
The Minister noted Cambodia's substantial potential in production, cultivation, and the supply of raw materials for both domestic consumption and export. However, she acknowledged existing challenges such as gaps in coordination among farmers, processors, producers, financiers, distributors, and buyers, which call for joint efforts to address.
The one-day event featured product and service exhibitions, business matchmaking sessions including G2B2B and B2B Speed Networking, business presentations, experience and case study sharing on raw-material sourcing, and knowledge-sharing sessions on branding and product packaging. Participants also received information and consultations on key public services related to business, such as business registration, trademark registration, certificates of origin, Cambodian Halal product certification, and product registration.
H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul encouraged attendees to leverage the forum for seeking business partners, exchanging experiences, and transforming discussions into concrete business opportunities. She expressed hope that positive outcomes from this initiative could lay the groundwork for expanding it into a National Supply Chain Exhibition in the future, aligning with Cambodia's ambition to become a regional hub for trade connectivity.
