Phnom penh: A fresh shipment of 220 Holstein dairy cows from Australia has arrived in Cambodia, aiming to significantly scale up local fresh milk production and meet rising domestic demand.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Australian Embassy in Cambodia announced that the cattle import is part of Kirisu Farm's ongoing expansion strategy. With this latest addition, the farm's herd has expanded to approximately 1,400 cows. The Embassy noted that the expansion will help reduce Cambodia's reliance on imported dairy products, while generating new employment opportunities and accelerating growth across the local dairy sector.
Australia supported the expansion effort in close collaboration with Kirisu Farm through the Cambodia Australia Partnership Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED), its flagship economic development initiative in Cambodia. The delivery marks another key milestone for the domestic dairy industry, following the initial import of 550 Australian Holstein cows six years ago that established Kirisu Farm as Cambodia's first large-scale commercial dairy producer.
