Cambodia Initiates ‘Clean Phnom Penh 2026’ Campaign to Promote Sustainable Practices

Phnom Penh:The 'Clean Phnom Penh 2026' campaign was officially launched on Wednesday at Phnom Penh International University (PPIU), presenting an action plan aimed at promoting clean practices, minds, and behavior.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the campaign, themed 'Cultivating Clean Thinking Habits for Yourself, Your Family, and Cambodia,' seeks to instill a mindset shift among the public, particularly the youth, encouraging participation in building a society focused on environmental sustainability, mental well-being, and ethical business practices.

The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service, who also chairs the Board of Directors for the Clean Project. Attendees included officials from the Phnom Penh Municipality, Ministry of Environment, as well as representatives from the private sector, artists, journalists, students, and youth volunteers.

Since its inception in 2017, the Clean Phnom Penh movement has expanded from waste management and recycling to encompass broader initiatives promoting social ethics and civic responsibility. The 2026 campaign focuses on three main pillars Clean Practices, Clean Mind, and Clean Behaviour.

The Clean Practices pillar emphasizes public awareness on ethical business conduct, transparency, and social value creation through collaborations with content creators. The Clean Mind initiative promotes spiritual well-being through the 'Clean Mind, Clean Khmer' program, featuring guidance from religious and moral experts. The Clean Behaviour pillar aims to foster daily clean habits and features a series of interviews with youth volunteers and ambassadors.

The organizers expressed gratitude to government ministries, partners, sponsors, and volunteers for their ongoing support in creating a sustainable future for Cambodia.
