Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Mine-Free World

Cambodia: Cambodia is committed to promoting peace, cooperation, and a mine-free world grounded in respect for international law. The commitment was reaffirmed by H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), during an online meeting with H.E. Ms. Eunice M. Tembo Luambia, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Zambia to the United Nations in Geneva and President of the 23rd Meeting of States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch, on behalf of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, conveyed congratulations to H.E. Ms. Eunice M. Tembo Luambia on her assumption of the Presidency and reaffirmed Cambodia's full confidence in her leadership. He emphasized the Kingdom's strong commitment to upholding the humanitarian integrity of the Convention.

H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch further highlighted Cambodia's long-standing compliance with the Convention and its substantive contributions to global mine action. He underscored the importance of maintaining the Convention as a humanitarian instrument and reiterated Cambodia's dedication to peace, cooperation, and a mine-free world grounded in international law.

Additionally, H.E. Dr. Ly Thuch expressed Cambodia's consistent efforts to address any issues through dialogue and cooperation. He stressed safeguarding the authority, credibility, and integrity of the Convention. On his Facebook page, he reiterated Cambodia's commitment to these principles.

The CMAA First Vice President also reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to providing full support and close cooperation to ensure the success of Zambia's presidency.
