Cambodia, Thailand Engage in Discussions for Tension De-escalation


Kuala lumpur: Cambodia’s 5th Military Region and Thailand’s Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command held a meeting in Mueang Trat district, Trat province, Thailand on Sept. 19 to discuss ways to de-escalate border tensions.



According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokesperson of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, stated that the Cambodian delegation was led by Major General Sar Kimpak, Deputy Commander of the 5th Military Region, while the Thai delegation was headed by Captain Oudom Sirikunwanyo, Chief of Staff of the Chanthaburi-Trat Border Defence Command.



During the meeting, it was highlighted that both sides engaged in discussions aimed at seeking peaceful solutions to existing issues in order to de-escalate tensions and maintain stability and tranquility along the border.



The Cambodian representatives stressed the importance of the full and effective implementation of the Agreed Minutes of the First Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC), which was held on Sept. 10, 2025.
