Cambodia to Celebrate 72nd Independence Day This Weekend

Phnom penh: Cambodia is set to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of its independence from France on November 9, under the royal presidency of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni. The celebration will begin with the monarch lighting the "victory flame" at the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh, which will remain lit for three days. According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, top leaders, high-ranking officials, and civil servants will attend the ceremony, joined by a crowd of Phnom Penh residents and students. Foreign ambassadors to Cambodia have also been invited to honor this annual event. Delegations from various government ministries and institutions will lay wreaths at the Independence Monument and the Royal Statue of the late King-Father Norodom Sihanouk, located nearby, to mark the occasion. The event will also feature fireworks displays on the evenings of November 9 and 11 at 7:00 PM in front of the Royal Palace, adding to the celebration's atmosphere. November 9, 2025, also marks the 72nd founding anniver sary of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, coinciding with the Independence Day celebrations.
