Phnom penh: Cambodia has launched a dual-track digital strategy to combat narcotics, unveiling a public reporting app and a national tracking database as part of a broader Royal Government pivot toward tech-integrated law enforcement. The National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) showcased the "NoDrug" mobile application and a centralised data platform for monitoring drug users during the fourth National Science, Technology and Innovation Day being held in Phnom Penh from Mar. 26 to 28.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the "NoDrug" app has already been downloaded by more than 80,000 users, as stated by H.E. Lt. Gen. Lim Tong Huot, head of the NACD's education and public relations department. The platform has generated over 8,000 community reports, with authorities reporting a resolution rate of nearly 90 percent. "These systems are designed to enhance operational efficiency and support the Royal Government's push to adopt modern technology in law enforcement," H.E. Lt. Gen. Lim Tong Huot said during the exhibition at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The move comes as the Royal Government of Cambodia seeks to modernise its policing capabilities under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister and NACD's Chairman H.E. Santepundit Neth Savoeun. While the app serves as a public-facing tip-line, the national data platform provides authorities with a digital framework to track and manage cases involving drug users across the country. The three-day expo, themed "Innovation for National Development," highlights the Interior Ministry's increasing reliance on data-driven solutions to address domestic security issues.
