Cambodia Urges Thailand to Return 20 Captured Cambodian Soldiers

Phnom penh: H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence, has reiterated Cambodia's call for the Thai side to repatriate the 20 Cambodian soldiers captured on the morning of July 29, 2025. 'As of 3:00 p.m. on July 31, Thailand has not yet returned the 20 captured Cambodian soldiers. Cambodia urges the Thai side to return them as soon as possible, along with any other personnel who may also be in their custody,' she said.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the spokesperson emphasized that Cambodia will continue to make every effort to ensure the safe and swift return of its detained soldiers through ongoing negotiations. H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata also took the opportunity to reaffirm Cambodia's strong commitment to transforming the border between the two countries into a zone of peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
