Phnom penh: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia has urged Thailand to cease its accusations against Cambodia and engage in sincere dialogue to promote peace. H.E. Chum Sounry, Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry, conveyed Cambodia's concerns during a press briefing, emphasizing the need for both countries to adhere to previously agreed joint mechanisms and good-faith dialogue from the special meeting held in Malaysia on July 28, 2025.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, H.E. Chum Sounry expressed regret over Thailand's continued escalation of accusations, which risks undermining the progress achieved thus far. He highlighted the importance of moving away from such actions to maintain a peaceful resolution.
H.E. Chum Sounry also reiterated the call for an urgent deployment of an impartial international observer team. This team would be tasked with monitoring and verifying the ceasefire on both sides of the border, ensuring compliance and transparency.
He further affirmed Cambodia's commitment to resolving the dispute peacefully, in line with international law, and emphasized the importance of maintaining regional stability.
