Paris:Rebuilding trust between Cambodia and Thailand requires concrete actions, such as the full implementation of bilateral agreements and ensuring a safe return for displaced persons, stated Cambodia's envoy to France during an international forum in Paris.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Cambodian Ambassador to France H.E. Luy David emphasized the importance of peaceful diplomatic channels and international law in resolving border disputes during the 134th session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie (CPF) on October 13.
Addressing the representatives, the Ambassador underscored the need for practical measures, including adherence to a joint statement signed on December 27, 2025, respecting international boundaries, continuing demarcation work under the Joint Boundary Commission, and guaranteeing the safe and dignified return of civilians displaced by conflict.
Reflecting on Cambodia's past, marked by war and genocide, H.E. Luy David highlighted peace as a core value for the nation and its resolve to avoid military confrontation. He also reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to resolving maritime domain disputes peacefully through international law, favoring conciliation procedures over escalation.
In addition, Ambassador David informed members about Cambodia's preparations for hosting the 48th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie and the 20th Francophonie Summit, set to occur in Phnom Penh in November 2026, assuring a successful and seamless event for all delegations involved.
