Cambodian Ambassador Discusses Human Rights with UN Rapporteur

Geneva:H.E. Ke Sovann, Cambodia's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, held a meeting with Mr. Thomas Andrews, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Cambodia, on September 30.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Ambassador Ke Sovann provided an overview of Cambodia's history, focusing on the impact of prolonged conflict and the nation's commitment to peace, security, stability, development, and the human rights of its citizens.

The discussions included the situation at the Cambodia-Thailand border, where Ambassador Ke Sovann emphasized the need for attention to the human rights of displaced Cambodians and their safe return home.

Additionally, they talked about the Special Rapporteur's upcoming report to the 63rd Session of the Human Rights Council, underlining the significance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation on human rights issues.
