Cambodian and Thai Military Leaders Hold RBC Meeting at Poipet

Poipet: The Secretariat of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) convened a meeting at the Poipet International Border Checkpoint under the observership of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), said H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence. The meeting brought together military leaders from Cambodia's 5th Military Region and Thailand's 1st Army Area.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the Cambodian delegation was led by Major General Sar Kimpak, Chief of the RBC Secretariat (Cambodia), while the Thai delegation was headed by Major General Phittayakool Pothisuwan, Chairman of the RBC Secretariat. The meeting focused on discussing key agenda items and exchanging documents in preparation for the upcoming Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand RBC, scheduled for January 29, 2026.

The meeting adhered to the spirit of the Joint Statement from the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) held on December 27, 2025. This adherence is aimed at ensuring the full and effective implementation of the Joint Statement, fostering mutual trust, and maintaining peace and stability along the border to facilitate a return to normalcy.
