Phnom penh: The Royal Cambodian Army, in collaboration with the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mine and ERW Clearance, the U.S. Army Pacific, and the Idaho National Guard, convened the Initial Planning Conference (IPC) for the Angkor Sentinel Exercise 2027. The conference, which took place from August 31 to September 4, 2026, signifies a significant milestone towards the revival of the bilateral exercise after a decade-long hiatus.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussions during the meeting focused on essential training activities. These included command-post exercises and professional exchanges involving medical services, engineering, and explosive ordnance disposal and unexploded ordnance (EOD/UXO). These activities are designed to enhance the capabilities and readiness of both nations' military forces.
The Angkor Sentinel Exercise 2027 is slated for February 2027. It is anticipated to bolster interoperability and disaster-response capabilities, symbolizing renewed momentum in military cooperation between Cambodia and the United States. This exercise also underscores the two nations' shared commitment to strengthening defense cooperation.
