Phnom penh: Cambodian armed forces have maintained their utmost restraint even though Thai soldiers launched an attack on Cambodian positions, stated H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defence.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, her statement released this afternoon detailed that at approximately 11:52 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2025, Thai military forces launched a preemptive attack, firing mortars and multiple small arms at a Cambodian army base in the An Ses area, located within Cambodian sovereign territory.
In response, the spokesperson underlined that the Cambodian army exercised maximum restraint and refrained from returning fire. As of this hour, the Thai side has not yet ceased its assault.
‘H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata reaffirmed that Cambodian forces remain committed to fully respecting and implementing the ceasefire agreement between Cambodia and Thailand. Cambodia will continue close cooperation at all levels to safeguard peace, preserve stability, and ensure a swift return to normalcy, and urges the Thai side to do the same,’ she concluded.
