Phnom penh: Cambodian dancers won a total of 62 medals, including 13 gold, 25 silver, and 24 bronze medals, at the Asian and Southeast Asian DanceSport Championships held in Malaysia from July 23 to 26, 2026.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Ms. Hang Simon, Secretary-General of the Cambodian DanceSport Federation, announced on the morning of July 27 that the competition concluded on the evening of July 26, with Cambodian athletes securing a total of 62 medals. The medals were specifically achieved in the Southeast Asian category, showcasing the talents and dedication of the Cambodian athletes.
The achievement, described by Ms. Hang Simorn as a significant and proud accomplishment for the nation, resulted from the collective efforts of the Cambodian delegation, coaches, and athletes. The Cambodian DanceSport delegation consisted of 22 members, including Mr. Ban Socheat, Head of Delegation; Ms. You Shu Jie, a judge; Mr. Sov Tong, head coach; Mr. Suon Kosal, assistant coach; and 18 athletes, comprising eight men and 10 women.
The delegation's participation was supported by full sponsorship of its round-trip air transportation from AirAsia. In the previous edition of the championships held in Vietnam in 2025, Cambodia won a total of 17 medals, including four gold medals, along with several silver and bronze medals.
